Serials Part 1

Those days TV was a luxury and the entertainment channels were limited. So the programs had good content value and a limited shelf life. Those days serials never used to go on and on unlike today where the content is the last thing to look forward to. These days nothing makes sense. How they start and how they go on is a matter of surprise.
Truly the serials those days are rightly called “Classics”. Stories were there in the serial. The strong content was the hero. Today, stories revolve around the schedule and demand of the actors doing it.
Those days, when a Ramayana or Mahabharata was played we all used to be glued thanks to the effective presentation and the dialogues. Even serials used to have a story line. The comedy satire those days are worth a watch even today. The level of humor was high as well as easy to relate to. A Nukkad, Circus thought us the value of friends, how life swings up and down. Fauji ,Sea Hawks spoke about Army, Navy Lives. Even a Saas Bahu serial like Tu Tu Main Main was immensely loved thanks to superb portray of characters as well as close to real life situations. Here at the end of the day, they both love each other and are a happy family, unlike modern serials. Even a classic Tom and Jerry, Charlie Chaplin and Laurel and Hardey without dialogues would make us laugh. ( More on this in next post tomorrow)

Missing those Malgudi Days, Hum Paanch, Dekh Bhai Dekh or even a decade back Sarabhai V/s Sarabhai where the episodes were limited and the comedy the king. Missing those good old days. Am happy to be able to find it online and show it kiddo, to understand the meaning to comedy and good laughter.

  1. So true. I have altogether stopped watching regional channels for their torture in the name of serials.
