Book Review # 142 Does Love Give A Second Chance? From a pen of a heart broken: Yamini

Blurb:

True Love is hard to find but once found it can never be left. It mingles with the soul, runs through the veins and stays in the heart.

Despite all odds, Yauvani and Shayne fell in love with each other. Yauvani, a research scholar met Shayne an undergraduate student and magic was destined to happen. A whirlpool of unfavorable conditions tore them apart. Shayne was shattered, hurt and heartbroken and so was Yauvani. He left her in pain, punishing her for a flaw in destiny.

Yauvani chronicles her story, to remind Shayne of their divine love, hoping that her words will reach him and make him believe that true love always wins.

But why did Shayne leave Yauvani in pain?

Is love about killing your own people?

Does Shayne come back?

My Take:

Love is a powerful emotion that overtakes all other feelings.Yes true love is rare and very hard to find. An emotion so pure,so strong and so selfless. But there is a thin line between being in love and getting obsessed.

Yauvani a research scholar falls in love with Shayne a student in her college.Despite the age difference and her married status they get in a relationship. Shayne being the varied one, he maintains his distance from her. With time Yauvani starts expecting more which Shayne is not ready to.Will the relationship stand the test of time and age? Will Shayne and Yauvani be the happily ever after couple? Read the book to find out.

The book is about Yauvani's point of view as she chronicles their relationship when Shayne dumps her. Yauvani as a flawed character is written well. The character sounds human and reacts the way normally people do in various stages of relationships.Still, I felt Yauvani could have been written better. She crosses the line from being in love to stalking, obsessed ,helpless and never comes in terms with the breakup. I felt she deserved better than to be treated this way.

Shayne is confused and selfish most of the times. His character doesn't justify his behavior. His reasons are never explained. Had that been done I guess the book would have been balanced better. He comes across as someone weak and reserved.

The other characters like Rahul or his relation with Yauvani are never explored. Nothing much is written about her marriage to him nor their married life. The language is simple and the narration is smooth. A bold and unusual story written well.

I would rate this 3.5/5.
