Book Review # 129 The Things We Do For Love: Raunak Agarwal
Blurb:
Love is not just about being in a relationship, it’s much more than that…
What would you do if you were caught up in a love triangle, but without the love? What if this love that you keep seeking, never really left?
Rudra, who thinks that he has started developing feelings for Ruhani, is aghast when she chooses her best friend over him – simply because her best friend is jealous. Set out on a task to bring Ruhani to her senses, he decides to go all in for the only girl in his life.
But, when things go too far, and he finally gets a choice, will Rudra continue to be Ruhani’s savior? Or will he find his own happy ending?
Narrated by Rudra, The Things We Do for Love, first of a two-part romance, dramatizes his quest for companionship. With a foray of jealousy, multiple second chances, and, bad and uninformed choices, this love-story by Raunak Agarwal is as relatable as his poetry.
My Take:
Love and friendship are two important equations of our lives. Balancing them or maintaining them is easy as long as you are clear and honest about what you want from the relationship. Sadly, these days people confuse these two relations and keep jumping from one to another as per convenience.
This story revolves around Rudra, Ruhani, Kabir and Tania. Tania's presence in the story is limited and it mainly revolves around the trio. A love triangle sort of. Maybe these days teenagers connect to this confused emotions. Narrated from Rudra's point of view, he is in love with Ruhani and she is with Kabir out of love/obligation . Always confused Rudra and Ruhani switch their relations as per their needs.
At times they wish to be with each other. Ruhani is not sure whom to be with. She likes Kabir who is a childhood friend and also her boyfriend, someone she is with because she doesn't want to break his heart. Kabir knows about the "more than friendship " between Rudra and Ruhani , he claims to others that he isn't in love with Ruhani yet he doesn't want to leave Ruhani.
Rudra was in a relationship previously with Tania, now he has fallen for Ruhani but she is confused and keeps friendzoning him on and off. Whom will Ruhani choose?
The narration decent, I felt the author kept losing the grip over the story. The story highlighted the misuse of social media very prominently as to how it is destroying your personal space and peace of mind. The ending was with a suspense so hoping the sequel would be better.
I would rate this 3/5.
