Blurb:

In the not-so-distant future, India has fallen, and the world is on the brink of an apocalyptic war. An attack by the terrorist group Invisible Hand has brutally eliminated the Indian Prime Minister and the union cabinet. As a national emergency is declared, chaos, destruction and terror reign supreme. From the ashes of this falling world, rises an unconventional hero - a vigilante known only as Kalki. Backed by a secret society called The Rudras, Kalki, along with Nushen, the Chinese superhuman spy, must do the impossible to save his country, and the world. But who is Kalki? A flesh and blood crusader with a mysterious past? Or the Messiah the world has been waiting for? The future of human survival depends on a single man. Will he become the living God prophesied as the last avatar of Lord Vishnu, or will he fade away as an outlaw?

My Take:

The finisher a reverse God, devouter of the universe,destroyer..these are some characteristics of Kalki, the so called last avatar of Vishnu. There are many books written about this futuristic avatar of the supreme Lord.

Set in the future where India is in the brink of the breakdown, with war looming large and destruction around all corners comes Kalki; who is he? Alive or dead? Is he what  we expect him to be or just an ordinary man?Read the book to find out.

The cover itself speaks volumes on what the book could hold. A super modern robot type Hanuman looking all menacing and ready to hit. I fell in love with the cover itself.  A perfect amalgamation of history, science, arts and mythology with a sound research on all Indian tribes make it a well articulated book.

The story is about Neel, also known as Kalki, his Astra group that makes weapons way ahead of time that help the country in war. Nushen a Chinese counterpart who is a perfect combination of beauty, brains and strength. General Jian, his lust for power, women and war. All their backstories run parallel y alongside current developments. The story is watertight and there are layers to all the characters. The narration is just beautiful.  The use of mythology, ancient arts, the role of Rudra's the scripture of Gods are incorporated well.

All the characters be it big or small are justified well, be it the Prime Minister Acharya, Chinese President Wang, Tiger, Arya , Professor Vati. The interactions between Neel and Nushen is built well.

I loved the way the book ends. The last few pages just give you goosebumps and the twist there just leaves you wanting for more. The wait for the sequel begins. (hope its out soon)

I would rate this 5/5 as a book can't get better than this.
