Netflix Cricket Fever: Mumbai Indians:
PC: Netflix
With IPL round the corner, this series just sets you in the IPL mode. Usually we get to hear bytes on the field and press conferences about what the players feel or how the match went. This one gives you a proper inside story of how a team gets selected, prepares ,plays ,wins, lose and stay together through thick and thin in the series.
So much preparations go in the matches, practice sessions , selection of the best eleven to represent the team on that day, injuries, forms of players. For most of us its the glamour and the glitz we see, we never get to know what goes in the back end. As fans this is the sneak peak of what happens behind the scenes. A vulnerable side of cricketers with their true emotions and insecurities, unlike what we see on field and never guess when we feel the loss of team.
I loved the way it introduces the game, selection process and how the back end preparations start. So much detailed planning goes in this. A virtual treat for players who wish to enter this sport. Their forms, worries, being able to make the opportunity count when they get, constant travelling, hectic schedules, keeping themselves motivated all the times. Do watch the series for knowing your favorite team better. The additional surprise being able to get a small peek in Antilia the most famous Ambani house.
For me it was pure nostalgia, of the 2018 Mumbai Indians IPL journey. Touted as one of the favorites to win , how they weren't able to even make it to the play offs in spite of being one of the best teams around. Do watch this series. The respect for the team goes up by leaps and bounds. I admire the fact that they didn't just paint the rosy picture and talked only about the best of the team. It is a very balanced series that spoke of the teams journey with utmost honesty. A win we all appreciate, but when a team loses we crib, criticize and move on while the team and franchise carry in their hearts and minds till they win and overcome it.
Would love to see more such web series ;maybe even other teams also. I would rate this 4/5. Streams now in Netflix.
