Blurb:
Kaatyaani works as an English teacher in a school. She enjoys her job as she finds it both challenging and rewarding. She dreams of excelling in this field and getting some recognition in her life. But, life takes a different turn when she marries Hemant. She now has only one wish-to become a mother.
For, she thinks a baby will fill the void in her life. But fate has different plans! Amidst the turmoil when life seems meaningless she meets Siddharth, a tall and handsome man in his mid-thirties. In him, she finds her ideal man, her soul mate. They come closer, fall in love and wish to spend life with each other. But Kaatyaani won’t leave Hemant. For, she thinks he will be shattered if she forsakes him.
Fate plays a game again when Hemant gets transferred to Bangalore. Her heart craves for Siddharth while her mind demands fidelity. In this tussle, between her heart and mind who will win-the heart or the mind?
My Take:
A predictable book. You say you value your marriage, loved your husband and at the same time you go and have an affair behind his back. Seriously, and that too with somone stranger, with whom a little chitchatting and couple of meet is enough to trust him more than your husband and have an affair with???? She stayed with him for ten days, slept with thim and then too want to stay in her marriage and prove what? That she is a Satisavitri? Helpless, Abla Naari?????And the best part is no one knew about her staying with some guy for ten days?
Again if infertility is an issue, why not convince him for adoption or just separate and move ahead with the lover who is ready to marry? What was Katayani trying to prove by staying in the marriage and cheating on her husband is something I failed to understand. Somehow she doesn't sound convincing or true to me.
At least Hemant (the husband) sounded reasonable to move out of marriage when he felt it wasn't working anymore. Again no mention of his family/ parents or their reaction to their divorce.
She could have traced Siddarth via Facebook. In this era of technology, sending a message via messenger also helps to connect; if she had lost his number/ address. Why wait for "destiny" to bring them together also remains unanswered. The book could have been shorter had the author thought of this. Maybe a little more effective too.
Nothing very great about the story/ book.
