The magic of SRK

After long, yesterday, while surfing channels happened to watch Dil Toh Pagal Hai (DTPH). Felt great to watch the movie after so long all over again. The songs in the movie are great and very hard to not like. I transported me to my college days. The craze, the friendship, the emotions we enjoyed was something else.

Shahrukh Khan clearly won our hearts as king of romance as he delivered all those mushy hits back to back. We all wished and secretly wanted some Raj or Rahul in our life. Movies then were made good.

The love stories then had an element of romance unlike today. Movies like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (KKHH), Hum Aapke Hain Kaun (HAHK) and the types aren’t made anymore.

HAHK is another cult, family movie which even after watching innumerable times I never get bored of. At that time we all wished to have a family like that, romance like Salman and Madhuri. Her dresses from the movie were a rage then. I still remember longing for the red one pieces she wore in the song Mitwa and the pink one in Pehla Pehla Pyaar. Chokers also came into fashion then.

Songs in the 90s movies are something else. Even today we can hear and hum them. I am sure all of you would agree to this. These days’ songs you hear for a few days and just forget them. The quality of songs is not that great.

Missing those wonderful era of songs and movies and yes if anyone needs to know why SRK is called the king of romance needs to pick his movies from the 90s to understand that. After all we all look for a Raj or Rahul in our lives who loves us unconditionally and understands us.

  1. He created many more Rahul's and Raj's in real life too only to make them understand that film is different than reality. U cannot always expect a happy ending.
