Book Review# 13: Mrs FunnyBones: Twinkle Khanna

Synopsis:

Good morning, it’s 6 a.m. and I am wide awake because the man of the house has decided that he needs to perform a series of complex maneuvers that involve him balancing on his left elbow. When I fell asleep last night, there was a baby lying next to me. Her smelly diaper is still wedged on my head but aside from this rather damp clue, I can't seem to find her anywhere. I could ask my mother-in-law if she has seen the baby, but she may just tell me that I need to fast on alternate Mondays, and God will deliver the baby back to me . . . Full of wit and delicious observations, Mrs Funnybones captures the life of the modern Indian woman—a woman who organizes dinner each evening, even as she goes to work all day, who runs her own life but has to listen to her Mummyji, who worries about her weight and the state of the country. Based .on Twinkle Khanna’s super-hit column, Mrs Funnybones marks the debut of one of our funniest, most original voices.

About the author:
Twinkle Khanna, aka Mrs Funnybones, quit Bollywood and multitasks in design business, candles etc. She has contributed in writing for leading newspapers writing columns which are hugely popular. She has a delectable style and I love her dry sense of humor and sarcasm. She has a take on almost everything and she’s not shy of putting forward her opinion. This is her first book.

My Review:

One of the best I have read in recent times. Great stress buster and entertaining. The dry humor just adds to it. I finished in one sitting. For me it’s a full value for money. I had read her blogs and was very entertained with the pieces she had written. We all need a book which DE stresses us when we are stressed or put a smile on our face when chips are down. For me this book did that exactly. After long, have read a humorous book I could totally relate to.

For a debutante author she has done a commendable job. It’s very simple day to day story which we all go through but maybe never voice our opinion. Her observations are sharp and very witty; add to this the tongue in cheek humor.
I would recommend it to all to give it a try. I am sure you would relate in some way.

I would look forward for more such entertaining books Mrs Funnybones.
