A salute to authors
I like reading books a lot,whenever i get some time i would like to pick up books and start reading.I enjoy going to bookshops and browsing books.Although,i have not explored a lot of genres,i try to read all kinds of books.
These days its raining authors and books.Even Indian authors have started good books.Although,a lot of people would disagree to this thought,but yes we too are trying to make difference in our own way in the world of writing.
There are a lot of people who only read English Authors,because they feel our authors are not "up to the mark" but with changing times i feel even we are raising our bar.
When i read a book,i always wonder what inspired the author in the first place,how and what thoughts,what emotions he felt when writing the story.I mean,its no mean feat to hold anyone's attention till the end of the book.I also realized that with every book they attach a part of their life to it.
So hats off to writers,who write wonderful books and entertain us,give us a fresh perspective about life in general,put a smile on our faces,make us laugh,cry,feel all at the same time.

Authors have a very vivid imagination. They are people who can go deep into the depth of thoughts and bring our pearls of wisdom.So yes my salute to them too...
ReplyDeleteIndian vs Foreign authors is a debate that will not end. There are certainly good Indian authors who write some very good and some very best books, like V.S.Naipaul, Jhumpa Lahiri, Ashok Banker.. but on the other side of the spectrum you have authors who keep churning out mundane stuff and then expect to laugh their way into banks. Indian writing scene has a lot of me toos. People who write a similar vein of books inspired by some or the other author. While you may find an occasional beauty, you have to sift through a lot of stones before you hit the rare diamond.
Indian literature is powerful, it is visionary, it is insightful. Literature in the regional languages are too varied and there is a lot of unexplored and untranslated content which is catching dust because it has not been exposed to the world yet in an understandable format.
I like Indian authors in fact I am a huge fan of some authors, whose books I would not miss for anything, but I also feel that it is a genre that is not marketed as good as it has to be.
